Dear Leopards,

I write to you today to share the news that Rob Young ’14 has accepted a new position as the Executive Director of Development for the Peggy Browning Fund and will conclude his service to the College on Monday, March 4.

We are deeply grateful to Rob for all he has meant to this campus community and especially our students. Rob served this institution well from the moment he began working as a staff member the day after graduation. He served in the development office for six years before moving, in 2020, to the division of student life to serve as the Director of Intercultural Development.

Across these years of dedicated service, Rob served as a Posse mentor (he was a Posse graduate himself); was instrumental in building out alumni affinity groups and reunion giving; was the campus liaison for the McDonough Network, LINC, Lehigh Valley Pride Network, and the Latino Male College Readiness Program; and was a member of on the DEI committee, Hanson Center Advisory Committee, Performance Series Advisory Council, and the Enriching Student Life working group for strategic planning. Rob also led his team to elevate the Office of Intercultural Development’s (OID) engagement in campus-wide trainings, workshops, and programs to highlight the multiplicity of student identities and cultures.

A tireless advocate of diversity, equity, and inclusion work on this campus, Rob leaves Lafayette a better community. While all of us in the student life are sad to lose a good colleague and champion for our students, I hope you will join me in congratulating Rob for this new opportunity and cheering him on as he stretches his wings in a new space.

Student life leadership is working to establish next steps to support the good work of OID professionals and to ensure continuity of the important programs and services for students for which the office is responsible. The programming for the rest of the semester is already in place and will move forward as planned. Staff in OID and in student life are ready and available to support all students and student groups who might otherwise have found support in Rob. We can be found in Farinon Center in the OID, Student Involvement, and Residence Life Offices, and in Feather House. Additionally, Dr. Jeffries, the College’s new Vice President for Inclusion, and I are available and reachable through email to schedule time together.

Kind regards,

Sarah Moschenross
Vice President for Student Life
