Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

I am writing to share that after more than two decades of exemplary service to the College, Dr. Jeff Goldstein, our Director of Health Services and College Physician, has decided that he will retire from his position on Sept. 1, 2024. He has graciously agreed to work a limited schedule of two days per week as our health center transitions to new leadership.

Jeff has served with distinction for 23 years, encompassing more than 15,000 graduates. Our campus community is better for his constant focus on the health and safety of our students, his devoted service as the team physician for Athletics, and his tireless commitment to the well-being of everyone across the College.

In addition to providing leadership and oversight of all medical care on campus, throughout these years Jeff has worked in close collaboration with the Counseling Center, Study Abroad, and numerous other departments. He provided direction and leadership on all issues related to campus life and public health, including through the H1N1 and COVID-19 pandemics. He has also led collaborations with Lehigh Valley Health Network and St. Luke’s University Health Network to provide an array of services for Lafayette students.

Jeff did his residency training in emergency medicine and is a Fellow in the American College of Emergency Physicians. He worked for many years as a full-time staff physician in the emergency room of local hospitals before coming to Lafayette in 2001. During his tenure at the College, he continued to work in the ER.

Students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and other members of the Lafayette community are invited to submit a video or written message to Jeff. In lieu of personal gifts, Jeff would prefer donations be made to the College in his honor to the James F. and Donna L. Krivoski Student Assistance Endowment Fund

Jeff will be succeeded in the role of Lafayette’s Director of Health Services by Jodi Schluter, who has served as the Physician Assistant on Jeff’s staff since 2012. We welcome Jodi into this new role as we expand our services with local health networks to provide additional services.

Please join me in extending our deep gratitude to Jeff and our best wishes to Jodi.
